This vibrant community invites you to strengthen your walk with God through the many ministry opportunities.
After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives but the grief continues and you feel alone. Often friends and family want to help you, but don't know how. That's the reason for GriefShare. The group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. We understand how you feel because we have been in the same situation. We will walk with you on the long path through grief toward healing, and hope for the future. Tap HERE for more information.
SHARE THE WOOL
This ministry creates prayer shawls, quilts and more to share with anyone who needs to be wrapped in prayer. Share the Wool meets on Tuesday mornings from around 10:30am-12:30pm, in room 3 in the McNary Center. They can teach you to knit or crochet too!
The Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry is an effort of several area churches. At Saint Paul's, there are food collection baskets in the Main Hall of McNary Center and in the entryway of the church. Volunteers transport food donated by our parishioners several times each month.
HEALING A WOMAN'S SOUL
This ministry helps parishes and individuals prevent domestic violence one woman at a time. They pray for individuals, offer support groups, and guide parishes in active outreach to victims. Healing a Woman's Soul also helps women and children who are domestic violence victims heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually in the Christian tradition, providing spiritual support in secular domestic violence shelters, halfway houses for substance abuse, as well as in churches. sites.google.com/site/healingawomanssoul/
There are numerous ways one can serve during Mass. Acolytes and Eucharistic Ministers light candles, carry the cross and administer the chalice. Ushers welcome people to worship, help newcomers, assist and guide parishioners during communion. Lectors read the lessons. Altar Guild volunteers set up the bread, wine and linens before worship, clean up afterward, and bring linens home for laundering. Find out more HERE.
BROTHERHOOD OF BACON
These men of faith bond over breakfast; feasting on food (bacon is optional, but hey! bacon!), but most importantly on God's Word and other resources that help one grow "to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13). Men of any age, from any church or none, who could use a few good brothers in the Lord Jesus Christ, are invited to the McNary Center on the last Saturday of every month at 8:00am.
SISTERHOOD OF SERENITY
These women meet monthly on the first Saturday at 9:30am in the McNary Center for study and fellowship. All adult women are welcome.
Sisterhood of Serenity will be starting a new study series January 7, 2017 at 9:30 am. The study is Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living by Shauna Niequist. Please join us for fellowship and study. Anyone wishing to purchase the book in advance or seeking additional information may contact Lisa Dimenno at 518-542-5006 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
